What’s AJI?

The AJI – Indigenous Youth Action of Dourados – with the support of the Support Group for Indigenous Youth of Mato Grosso do Sul – GAPK is a non-governmental organization whose mission is to promote affirmative action through non-formal education. Founded in 2001 by the anthropologist Maria de Lourdes Beldi de Alcântara together with young Guarani-kaiowa and ñandeva and Aruak-Terena.

AJI has its headquarters in the village of Bororó in the Dourados Indigenous Reserve, considered to be the most populous in the country: approximately 18,000 indigenous people live on approximately 3,500 hectares. It is between the cities of Dourados and Itaporã.
